Kietzmann, M., W. Baumer, E. Bien and D. Lubach. In Vivo and In Vitro Studies Addressing Skin Irritation by Cement. Occup. Environ. 47: 184-189. 1999.
According to OECD Guidelines, cement samples were tested on irritating effects on skin and mucous membranes. In addition to animal models, the HETCAM test and the isolated perfused bovine udder were used as alternative in vitro models. The results confirm a judgement of cement as an irritant. No corrosive effects were found. The results of the in vitro studies were in good correlation with the in vivo studies.
